CARE DURING COVID:
HOUSE CLEANER EMPLOYER CHECKLIST

01 COMMUNICATION

  • Open and ongoing about risk of exposure

  • Be honest about where you go and who you see

  • Build community— Don’t forget to check-in on how they and their loved ones are doing.

02 COLLECTIVE SAFETY

  • Schedule work when no one is present

  • Provide hand sanitizer, mask, gloves and disinfectant

  • Provide good ventilation, by opening windows or doors

  • Find and facilitate safest transportation option

  • Commit to social distancing and masks in public

03 BE THAT GREAT CLIENT

  • Make a fair agreement

  • Commit to fair pay adjusting compensation to account for extra work and/or risk level

  • Provide paid time off

  • Assist your worker in finding new work with strong recommendations

  • Consider an early holiday tip, ‘gift cards’ for future services or pay now for past cancellations

04 PLAN FOR THE WORST CASE SCENARIO

  • Provide resources on local access to health care, testing, and other emergency resources

  • Suspend work with pay if anyone is exposed to, experiences symptoms or tests positive for COVID-19

05 STAY INFORMED
